Hardwood Flooring From a Trusted Southern California Supplier

National Hardwood Flooring & Moulding has served homeowners, contractors, and designers throughout Southern California since 1984. Our Van Nuys showroom stocks engineered flooring, solid hardwood flooring, and installation supplies for residential and commercial projects of all sizes. As a hardwood flooring supplier with five decades of industry experience, we provide flooring materials, installation products, and contractor pricing for jobs ranging from single-room renovations to multi-unit developments.

Types of Hardwood Flooring

Our inventory includes flooring options to match the requirements of any project. We stock domestic and imported species in multiple grades, widths, and finishes.

Solid Hardwood Flooring

Solid hardwood flooring consists of planks milled from a single piece of wood, typically 3/4 inch thick. This flooring can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its lifespan, making it a long-term investment for homes and buildings with controlled humidity levels. We carry solid hardwood in oak, maple, walnut, hickory, and imported species. Available grades include clear, select, number one common, number two common, cabin, and shorts.

Engineered Flooring

Engineered flooring features a hardwood veneer bonded to multiple layers of plywood or high-density fiberboard. This construction provides stability in environments where humidity fluctuates, including basements, condominiums built on concrete slabs, and spaces with radiant heat systems. Our engineered wood planks come in standard and wide-plank formats, with options for prefinished and unfinished surfaces.

Specialty & Reclaimed Flooring

National Hardwood stocks French Galerie, Country French, and French Villa collections for projects requiring character and texture. Our reclaimed flooring includes salvaged barn wood

and antique materials for restoration work and design projects with specific aesthetic goals. We also carry bamboo flooring for clients seeking alternatives to traditional hardwood.

Laminate, Vinyl, & SPC Flooring

For areas requiring water resistance or heavy traffic durability, we supply laminate, vinyl, and SPC flooring. These products replicate the appearance of hardwood while providing resistance to moisture, scratches, and dents.

Engineered vs Solid Hardwood

The choice between engineered and solid hardwood depends on the installation environment and long-term maintenance preferences.

Solid hardwood flooring performs well in climate-controlled spaces above grade. The thickness of solid planks allows for multiple sanding and refinishing cycles, extending the floor’s functional life by decades. Solid hardwood is not recommended for below-grade installations or areas with significant humidity changes, as the wood expands and contracts with moisture fluctuations.

Engineered flooring handles humidity changes with less movement than solid hardwood. The cross-layered construction resists warping and cupping, making engineered planks suitable for basements, concrete subfloors, and radiant heating systems. Depending on the veneer thickness, engineered floors can be refinished one to three times.

Both products come in prefinished and unfinished options. Prefinished flooring arrives ready to install with factory-applied stains and finishes. Unfinished flooring allows contractors and homeowners to apply custom stains and finishes on site, matching existing woodwork or achieving specific color profiles.
